At Sigma Phi Epsilon, we believe your environment matters.
That’s why SigEp’s home at 920 Hillcrest Drive was built around something bigger than fraternity life as usual. It’s a place for brotherhood, leadership, academic success, personal growth—and yes, plenty of fun along the way.
Today, close to 30 SigEp brothers call SigEp home, and our brotherhood continues to grow.
We’re proud to be back on Greek Row at Northern Illinois University. But we’re even more excited about what’s happening inside the house.

Our house continues to evolve as we invest in the spaces where our brothers live, learn, lead, and build lifelong friendships.

The Great Room — The heart of the house. A renovated gathering space for brotherhood events, conversations, study nights, game days, and hanging out with the guys.

Foyer + Welcome Lounge — A space that connects the SigEp of today with the generations of Illinois Epsilon brothers who came before us.

Chapter + Social Room — A flexible space for chapter meetings, brotherhood events, programming, and social events.

Dining Room + Kitchen — Because some of the best conversations in college happen around a table. Shared meals are a big part of building a stronger brotherhood.

Spacious Bedroom Suites — Renovated living spaces designed to give our brothers room to live, recharge, and make the house their home.

Academic Study + Executive Board Rooms — Dedicated spaces for studying, group projects, chapter leadership, mentoring, and getting things done.

24/7 In-House Gym — No walk across campus required. Building a sound mind and sound body is part of the SigEp experience. (COMING SOON)

Outdoor + Common Areas — Investments continue throughout the property, including landscaping, exterior improvements, and common spaces that make 920 Hillcrest a place our brothers are proud to call home.
And we’re not finished. Our alumni and undergraduate leadership continue to invest in the house and improve the experience semester after semester.

That’s the vision behind what we’re building at SigEp NIU.
Our Balanced Man Program provides continuous development throughout a brother’s college experience—not a traditional pledge process. Programming goes beyond fraternity operations and focuses on skills young men can actually use: personal finance, leadership, communication, professional development, relationships, accountability and personal growth.
The goal is simple:
Help every brother Raise His Bar and become the best version of himself.
Mentorship That Goes Beyond College
One of the newest additions to the SigEp experience at NIU is our expanded Board of Mentors, led by Board of Mentors Chair Georgie Matthew.
Our undergraduate leaders have access to experienced alumni who can serve as mentors, sounding boards, and professional resources as they navigate leadership positions, academics, internships, careers, and life after NIU.
We take that relationship between undergraduate brothers and alumni seriously.
When you join SigEp, you’re not simply joining the guys currently living at 920 Hillcrest.
You’re joining generations of brothers who want to see you succeed.
Opportunities You Won’t Find in Every Fraternity
Our alumni remain actively involved in creating opportunities for today’s brothers... from mentoring and leadership development to professional networking, career panels, and real-world conversations with successful NIU graduates.
Our Balanced Man Scholarship brings outstanding NIU students together with brothers, alumni, and community leaders and recognizes young men who demonstrate academics, leadership, service, and character.
Our annual scholarship celebration has become another opportunity to recognize young men who are already raising the bar... and introduce them to a brotherhood that can help them keep doing it.
Because we’re not interested in simply asking:
“What can you do for SigEp?”
We also ask:
“What can SigEp help you become?”
A Brotherhood With Momentum
SigEp at NIU is growing.
The house is active. New brothers are joining. Leadership opportunities are expanding. Our mentoring program is growing. Balanced Man programming continues to evolve. Our alumni are engaged. Our brothers also have the opportunity to help shape what Illinois Epsilon becomes next.
That makes this an incredibly exciting time to join.
We’re not looking for the biggest ego in the room.
We’re looking for men who are motivated, curious, driven, and willing to grow... men who want a great college experience while preparing themselves for whatever comes next.
